Volkswagen Confirms Production Variant of the I.D. Crozz EV Crossover Concept for the U.S.

German uber-automaker Volkswagen is doubling-down on its electric future with billions of dollars in investments, with one eye trained squarely on the tricky U.S. market. At this year’s LA auto show, VW flipped the switch on the existing I.D. Crozz concept, confirming the crossover for U.S. production and giving us a glimpse at what the U.S. can expect to see from VW’s electrified toil. Alongside the rather goofy I.D. Buzz concept, the oddly named I.D. Crozz is the second model confirmed for production that was designed from the ground up with an electric drivetrain, riding on the electric-only MEB platform.…

2018 Volkswagen Tiguan Gets R-Line Flair

If you are on the fence about getting a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan, VW just sweetened the deal with a R-Line package for its SEL and SEL Premium trims. The new packages are being introduced at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show. They include 19- and 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and stainless steel pedals upgrades for starters. The “performance-inspired treatments” won’t make your little hauler go any faster—just look way cooler than that Toyota RAV4 parked next to you at the traffic light. My first school bus was a 30-horsepower ’57 Volkswagen Type 2 (aka the Transporter, Kombi, Microbus, Bus, and “the hippie van”) trimmed with a mix of utilitarian rubber and leatherette. I sat up front, right foot resting on the…

2018 Porsche 911 Review The 2018 Porsche 911 has been unusually busy this year. In addition to purist-focused 911 GTS and 911 Carrera T versions, Porsche has added a world-beating 911 GT2 RS and GT3 variants, a Turbo S Exclusive option, and a GT3 Touring Package that tempts half-million-dollar collectors with its content. 2018 Subaru Crosstrek vs…

2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport

The 2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport skips the refrigerator-on-wheels looks for a sleeker shape for better fuel economy, but it’s still a Land Rover underneath. None of the above is a bad thing, by the way. The Land Rover earns a 7.3 before fuel economy and safety are factored in, an admirable score for the off-roader. (Read more about how we…
